I apologize for taking so long to get to this. Honestly, it was a combination of staying focused on the Elite series of drivers, getting to the first few events on TOUR, and even more…I was trying to wrap my head around it myself!
I saw the Elyte Ti fairway in Prototype form in late August 2024. Based on the look and depth of the face, I thought it was one of the random TOUR parts we would offer. Then I set it down and noticed something interesting. It had the shape of our MAX platform.
WHAT IS THIS?!
To which one of our TOUR R&D guys replied…oh that’s our new FRANKENSTEIN.
The tester at the time was Min Woo Lee, and the results were more ridiculous than anything else.
Ball speeds in the high 170s to low 180s, spin in the 2800-3200RPM range, and carry distances that live well past a good driver on the PGA TOUR.
Case in point for Min…Elyte Ti was cool but way too hot for his use.
So what actually is Elyte Ti?
In my terms, it’s a full titanium fairway wood with the Elyte Standard chassis and TD weighting and face. The result is a HOT fairway wood with high launch and LOW spin characteristics.
This is what Callaway has to say…
“A titanium body and face deliver enhanced performance, providing extreme levels of speed and forgiveness. Elyte Ti is a blend between the Elyte Max and Elyte Triple Diamond shapes, providing the deeper face of the Triple Diamond model with a shape and footprint similar to the Elyte model. An interchangeable weighting system allows players to toggle back and forth between lower spin with a penetrating ball flight or more forgiveness.”
YES, it has all the new stuff that all Elyte fairways have…
THE CORE TECHNOLOGY (In simple terms)
All New Tungsten Speed Wave
•Featured on the 3-7 wood, the new Tungsten
Speed Wave is a 35g weight that positions the mass
low and forward to promote fast ball speeds.
•This new, innovative design is engineered
specifically to enhance misses low on the face.
New Step Sole
•Engineered for cleaner contact, the new Step Sole
minimizes skidding, ensuring smoother, more solid
strikes.
•Developed through extensive studies and the
success of the Apex UW, this sole shape delivers
better turf interaction for consistent results.
Ai 10x Face
•Our most advanced Ai face to date, the new Ai10x
Face delivers 10x more control points than the Ai
Smart Face.
•Designed with our C300 Face cup to produce
breakneck ball speeds, tight dispersion, and
optimized launch across the face.
So who is it for?
ANYBODY looking for some distance gains out of the 13-16 degree part of the bag.
I’ll use myself as an example,
Here is my number breakdown with Elyte Vs Elyte TD Vs Elyte Ti
All setups with Fujikura Ventus Red 7X (Tipped 1.5, 42.75EOG, D3, 15 degrees of loft, N/S) and Chrome Tour X golf balls. The measuring device was Trackman at ECPC 65-degree sunny day.
10 Balls with each, keeping the seven best off the floor.
Elyte Std Average
Ball Speed 154.9
Spin 3514 RPM
Launch 10.4
Carry 251.8 yds
Elyte TD Average
Ball Speed 155.8
Spin 3108 RPM
Launch 10.1
Carry 254.6 yds
Elyte Ti Average
Ball Speed 157.3
Spin 2964 RPM
Launch 11.4
Carry 258.9 yds
As you can see, the Elyte Ti outperformed the others in speed and overall carry, BUT there’s a cost…spin. I’m not looking for driver adjacent numbers out of my 3-wood; I’ll take a Mini Driver in the low 160s if I want that kind of heat. But I’m a player who wants ONLY a 250-carry club with spin. I don’t want/need anything more than that out of my 3-wood. That’s just ME and MY needs.
We are all different!!!
I have a ton of friends who want more juice out of slot #2 in the bag but don’t want to go all Mini Driver on it.
Well…here you go.
Elite Ti is a BEAST, but it’s a precise tool, and you must ensure it checks off all the boxes. Like anything else, make sure the gains are practical and ADD VALUE to the bag. My hunch is that there is a big market for something like this, and it’s nice to know that when the day comes, I want a HOT fairway…Callaway R&D has just the thing.
Happy Hunting
LFG
