Has the Epic speed line seen head cracking failures similar to the current TaylorMade Sims and the Ping G400βs? With the transition to carbon fiber crowns and such it seems the warrantyβs are limiting replacements to two years. It just seems like this is acceptable in the manufactures eyes. Based on my swing speed I doubt that I will be cracking heads or separating crowns.
My swing speed is between 95 and 100 MPH. I hit a straight ball and get about 230 yards total. Currently using a G400 with a soft regular flex shaft at 12 degrees with a medium height ball flight. Smooth tempo and I hit usually 12 out of 14 fairways or 85%. Iβm in my low 60βs for age and have a low single digit handicap.
What would you recommend from the Epic Speed line for a replacement? This way when I go try some out I can have it narrowed down some. I have no current complaints on my current driver just looking to maybe gain a little distance and keep the G400 in active reserve.
I would go for a proper fitting but itβs at least a two hour drive to the closest one and truthfully I donβt know how good they are. I live in a rural area. I travel some so I can find a store to hit a few to start with, then maybe demo one.

Hi Tom,
This is an awesome question and ill do my best to steer you in the right direction. First off you are in a great place it sounds! Having something you know you can hit the short grass with is so valuable. Based on your message I would probably start you off with Epic Max for two reasons.
1) In your SS range the Max has been a hit in regards to not only accuracy but distance. Itβs a high speed/highMOI head that has been a serious hit in the fitting bays at your SS profile.
2) Adjustability. With the sliding weight in the back you can tune in the flight window you want to see to take that 85% to 100% lol.
Since you wonβt have a chance to get fit, itβs hard to say what shaft would be good but we have a great stock option in R flex, the PX IR Smoke.
To answer the head cracking issue, Iβm not aware nor have ever been of a problem with QC with our driver heads. Our process is as disciplined as it gets.

So I was gifted the standard retail epic speed in 10.5. Iβm a high ball hitter so I reduced loft to 8.5 on D setting by replacing the optifit with a tour version. I still get my butter cut but the flight is still high. My question is..
Would hot melt help move the CG down & if so, how much HM in grams would be needed? Thank you.
