This week at Muirfield Village was a busy one!! Beyond the big switches made by two of our horses Rahm (New Putter) and Xander (Golf Ball and Putter) it was still a week packed with fairway wood builds, a new set of clubs for a non-staffer and much much more.

Onsite this week Callaway had Tour Manager Jacob Davidson, Kellen Watson, Greg Shaw, Odysseys Joe Toulon and myself.
For our Tour Staff, we had Christiaan Bezuidenhout, Sam Burns, Dylan Frittelli, Talor Gooch, Branden Grace, Emiliano Grillo, Adam Hadwin, Si Woo Kim, KH Lee, Marc Leishman, Jamie Lovemark, Tyler McCumber, Alex Noren, Jon Rahm, Patrick Rodgers, Xander Schauffele, Matt Wallace and Danny Willett.
Trucks aren’t a normal thing at Jack’s place, it was only last year when the Tour played back-to-back events in Dublin that the trucks were allowed on site. I’m thankful he finally allowed them, I’ve never seen Muirfield Village up close, and it’s absolutely breathtaking.
Branden Grace had a full set of Apex TCB’s (4-AW) built up to take home and test, Grace is looking into a touch more spin than his current X-Forged CB ’21. The irons (like his gamers) have Project X LS 125 6.5 shafts. Interesting note, Branden will also try the TCB “A” wedge to replace his Jaws MD5 52/10S. Players are slowly giving this a try as the 50-52 wedge is typically a full shot club. Dylan Frittelli adopted this a while back.
Grace also had a brand new Mavrik 7-wood (20@19.6, 41.25 inches, 58 lie, D2), built up with a Diamana DF 80TX shaft.
Emiliano Grillo took a new Epic Speed 💎💎💎 3-wood (15@14, 42 7/8 inches, Tipped 1.5, D 2.5) out to test this week. The new fairway has a Mitsubishi Diamana DF 70TX shaft.
Byron Nelson Champion K.H Lee went on a testing frenzy with a new Epic Speed 💎💎💎 ADJ 3-wood to replace his current non-Callaway gamer and also a new Mavrik SZ 7-wood and Apex ’21 Tour Utility.
Alex Noren and Marc Leishman also went the way of the Epic Speed 💎💎💎 Fairway with Noren going into an Adjustable (15@13.1, D1) with a Mitsubishi Diamana DF 80TX (42.5 inches) and Leishman to a bonded (15@14.5, 43 inches, Tipped 1.5, D4) with an MCA Tensei 1K 80TX.
Odyssey (Joe Toulon)
Jon Rahm made a move to a WH OG Rossie S. Odyssey had sent him a view putters after the PGA Championship and despite gaining shots on the green at Kiawah, Jon felt he was missing too many putts in the 8-12′ range. Joe Toulon and Co. had noticed a few things that have recently changed in his stroke and after testing some at the ECPC, it was clear that he was more comfortable with the Rossie slant. The slant neck allowed him to feel the putter face rotate open during the backstroke which allowed him to feel that he could release the toe without pulling putts. Jon was very excited after leaving the test center.
Xander Schauffele also made a change on the greens this week. While he stuck with the same model, he added length and loft in addition to a new grip. He switched to a SuperStroke Wrist Lock grip which he used in an arm lock fashion. His setup didn’t change much except for a slight forward press to lock the end of the grip into his forearm. During testing, he saw much more consistent face rotation and launch angle. He believes this style of putting provides a competitive advantage and should be banned, but as long as it’s legal, he may as well benefit from it.
