“The forgiveness on this club is on a whole new level. It’s so easy to hit and I’m BOMBING this thing.”
-Kevin Yu on Apex UW
This one is short and sweet but so awesome nonetheless.
After a wicked amateur career at Arizona State, Kevin Yu, who joined Team Callaway, was looking to build a little more spin and launch into his bag at The Shriners Open in Las Vegas.
He worked with Tour Manager Jacob Davidson and Kellen Watson to find a solution that would find him more launch and spin in the 3-wood/2-iron section of his bag.
The 3-wood was carrying 280yds with about 2700 RPMs which is pretty damn close to driver numbers, and going into par-5’s with those numbers is no fun.
Davidson and Watson then started testing the Apex UW in 17 and 21, and the numbers went from ok to downright phenomenal. Yu was getting 5 more yards of carry with both clubs and added about 500-600 RPMs of spin with both clubs.
This is that secret sauce that will truly separate the Apex UW from anything else. SPIN. Once again.
As you can see below, Kevin saw a serious uptick with Apex UW and oddly enough a true replacement for his 2-iron AND his 3-wood. Who knew? 🤷🏻♂️
