I ADORE the Chrome Soft golf balls. All of them.
2021 was a complete eye-opener for me regarding just how good these nuggets really are. The conversations with TOUR staff and amateurs alike further cemented home that Callaway Golf is a serious golf ball company, and even more, we have THE ball right now.
I had so much fun challenging friends, new players on Social Media to give it a try and let the ball do the talking. If my DMs and text messages indicate, I converted a TON of players into Chrome Soft in 2021. A ton.
It’s now the dawn of a new year and an even better Chrome Soft offering, but how?
How do you make an almost perfect golf ball…perfecter? Is that a word?
I’ll explain….
INTRODUCING THE 2022 CHROME SOFT FAMILY OF GOLF BALLS

Subtle Refinements with big impacts
KEY TECH:
Precision Technology: Precision Technology enhances every component, process, and measure, which allows us to make our highest quality, best performing, most consistent ball. We’ve leveraged over $50M of additional investment to create proprietary precision design techniques and manufacturing specifications that deliver our tightest dispersion, fastest speeds, unparalleled distance control from every ball.
Hyper-Elastic Soft Fast Core: for Tour-level speed, spin, and control through the bag.
New Tour HEX Aero Design: In my opinion, the cover and dimple configuration of the Chrome Soft golf balls separates us from everyone else. Remember that each ball has a unique design optimized for the player best suited to that profile. More or less the secret sauce that makes it so ridiculously good in the wind.
Callaway could have easily let the 2020/2021 iteration of the Chrome Soft line run another year, and it still would have been a success. Those golf balls were that good. But if you can make something better, why not do it?
Chrome Soft (Red Box) 3-piece Construction

What’s new?
Faster across the bag with a touch lower spin on full shots.
Who is it for?
This is the ball for the widest range of players, from professional players looking for a bit launch and ball speed to the 20+ handicap that wants a ball that does it all.
Chrome Soft X LS (Silver Box) 4-piece Construction

What’s new?
I say it’s the past LS ball with a CSX cover in my own verbiage. What does that mean? It means it flies high with lower spin like the CSX/LS but with the feel of CSX.
Who is it for?
Players looking to knock spin down across the bag all while not sacrificing spin/touch around the greens.
Why it’s my new ball
I played and loved CSX all of 2021. It was the ball that completely changed my game around, and I’m still convinced it’s the best ball I have ever played from 100 yards and in. However, the new CSX/LS not only flew a bit further across the bag for me, with the new cover, I now have complete trust with it around the greens. So basically, I still keep my CSX, but now it flies a little higher with a hair less spin…. it sounds like a winner to me.
Chrome Soft X (Black Box) 4-piece Construction

What’s new?
More ball speed across the bag in an already flawless golf ball. It’s fast, it spins, and it’s a brick-house in the wind.
Who is it for?
Jon Rahm, Sam Burns, Phil Mickelson, or players looking for complete control over the golf ball. Simple.
The Takeaway?
Pound for Pound, the Chrome Soft family of Golf Balls is the best in the game. I have seen more players switch into this ball and immediately get better than any other piece of equipment. These balls are a game-changer, and the fact that these new ones made perfect….perfecter? Wow.
