Pebble week is quite the experience. Not only are the views absolutely incredible but the vibe is as laid back as it gets. I’m not sure if it’s the majestic landscape or the Pro-Am aspect but this week was super laid back.
On the truck we had Tour Manager Jacob Davidson, Kellen Watson, Greg Shaw, Simon Wood and Odyssey’s Joe Toulon.
The report is a bit light but some interesting nuggets nonetheless.
Odyssey TRI-HOT 5K Double Wide is Killing
Min Woo Lee did some putter testing with Joe Toulon and swapped his WH OG #1 for a brand new Tri-Hot 5K Double Wide. This putter gets a ton of looks out on Tour. In my opinion, it’s the middle ground between mallet and blade, and the players seem to like how it aids in alignment.
Tommy “Two Gloves” Gainey puts Rogue ST Max in REALLY quickly
This was a fun one to watch.
So we are on the truck, and Tommy’s caddy dropped his clubs off to get re-gripped. Once the grips were complete, Kellen, on a hunch (who knows Tommy well) grabbed a Rogue ST Max (retail) and dialed it into what he knows to be Tommy’s preferences. It’s the first we have seen Tommy in 2022, and he had yet to see the new driver.
Out on the range, Tommy hit a few balls and turned to his caddy and said, lets “hit the new one.”
It took about five shots, and you could see that Tommy was engaged. The cool thing was to see how well Kellen knew what Tommy would respond to (and he was spot on, sight unseen), he was previously in an Epic Flash head but my hunch tells me that there is a new gamer:) Old habits die hard.
He was POUNDING this thing.
Quick Notes:
Ryan Moore settled a 💎💎💎T (15) with an Aldila Synergy Blue 70TX. He tested quite a few shafts this week but has always liked the Synergy profile, he has the 60TX in his driver.
Sang-Moon Bae had a new Jaws MD5 Raw 60T built up with a Dynamic Gold Tour Issue S400
Jonathan Byrd tested a new 4-iron option to get his launch numbers up while maintaining the 4000RPM spin number. Byrd had DG AMT Tour White X100 in his previous setup. He landed on an X-Forged 24 with an MCA MMT 105TX that got him about 2 degrees higher launch and kept him at the preferred spin window. It’s mad science y’all.
Adam Hadwin put the Rogue ST 💎💎💎LS (9, MCA Diamana White Board 60TX) in the bag after the head cracked on his Epic Speed 💎💎💎DS. I think the universe was trying to tell him something:)
In other news, I had fun doing some building of my own. I can’t say who, but I built up and dialed two celebrities in the field with Rogue ST 💎💎💎’s. One had a Ventus TR 6X and the other an RDX Blue 6.0. Both went in play:)
We head to Scottsdale next week for the Waste Management, it should be a wild ride.
