With all the talk of Paradym, Triple Diamond, TCB, and everything else, it’s easy to forget that it all started with one thing… Big Bertha. I remember in the early 90’s when I first laid my eyes on a Big Bertha driver, I couldn’t believe what I was looking at. For its time, it was Big, had a weird hosel, went forever, and most importantly, it was FUN. The user experience was more or less a look into the future, and as we land on the new iteration, I believe it’s what Mr. Callaway had in mind when he launched the Original.

Gearhead analysis:

Borderline insane. They are BY FAR the most forgiving set of clubs I have tested. The launch conditions (especially with the irons) were unlike anything I have ever seen.

High, low spin, forgiving across the face, and oddly enough, a good bit of workability when needed.

I say they are “BY FAR” the most forgiving for one simple reason. I have yet to see a golf club set that retains ball speed like these. I was only losing 2-3 MPH per club across the face vs. center punch. I’ve never seen that before.

If you are mid to high handicap that just wants to keep the ball out in front of you with modern distance and almost unexplainable forgiveness, then Big Bertha is your go-to. The other feature I love is the fact that it’s a harmonious set with countless combos between Driver/Fairway/Hybrids/Irons and WEDGES. You can really build a bulletproof set of clubs here.

Going to get my old man a set of these and see where that goes:)
