Sam Burns finds a new 3-wood….
What Sam was looking for was a 3-wood that carried 270 off the floor, 168-172 ball speed, 3000-3400RPM spin. This is in the bag this week; he absolutely melts this thing.
Xander makes some shaft switches…
The story here is quite simple. It’s all a feel thing. Xander was in Kai’li blue, which has a stiff butt section and plays a bit softer in the tip gave him the spin numbers he liked, but the feel was a bit off which in turn makes consistent solid contact an issue. With Diamana PD, which has a softer handle and VERY stiff tip section, Xander got the feel he wanted AND the balls flying out of the middle of the face on a more consistent basis….which in his case is like 99.9% of the time.
Min Woo Lee changes driver shafts…
Min’s old setup with the Ventus Red 7X wasn’t getting him the face contact he wanted, so Kellen Watson tested Ventus Blue 7x and 6x. The blue profile has a stiffer tip section than the red, adding a hair less torque and more head stability. That equals better face contact. The improvement isn’t necessarily made on center punch hits; it’s a better quality strike on the mishits.
