Callaway Golf WINS DRIVER COUNT at SENTRY (13)
Callaway Golf WINS IRON COUNT at SENTRY (12)
Callaway Golf WINS FAIRWAY WOOD COUNT at SENTRY (23)
Odyssey Golf WINS PUTTER COUNT at SENTRY (14)
I call it the official opening week of the 2022 PGA Tour season; not only is it the acknowledgment of victories of the past year, but it’s also the worlds first glimpse of what new gear players have in the bag, and of course its #gorogue season:)
Our Tour Team was on-site presented by Tour Manager Jacob Davidson and Odyssey’s Joe Toulon. It was a busy week, to say the least, but these guys did a ton of work for a two-person crew.
Callaway won the Driver count with 13 big sticks in play (11 Rogue), and like clockwork, Joe Toulon and Odyssey capture yet another putter count.
Below are the new Rogue set-ups that went into play, followed by some notes from the week.
Abraham Ancer
Talor Gooch
Branden Grace
Si Woo Kim
Kevin Kisner
K.H Lee
Marc Leishman
Phil Mickelson
Jon Rahm
Xander Scahuffelle
Erik Van Rooyen
TOUR NOTES:
Few Housekeeping things before:
YES, there are some different heads out on TOUR being tested
💎💎💎S (440CC, lower spin, deeper face)
💎💎💎 (450CC, similar to ES 💎💎💎profile with higher MOI)
MAX LS T (Same as retail except for more face progression and .75 more loft)
Trust me, I’ll dig into and explain it all at some point, but they are heads that are considered prototypes at the moment. That’s it.
Callaway Golf announced Abraham Ancer (winner of the World Golf Championships-FedEx St. Jude Invitational in 2021) as a new Staff Member. Abe will play Callaway woods, an Odyssey Putter, along with the hat and the bag. His driver set-up is listed above, and he also added the new Tri-Hot 5K #2 to the bag this week. A big addition to the squad from a performance standpoint and socially as Abe is one of the coolest guys we see every week.
SPECS:
Tri Hot 2
Back line in white
Red SL
Japan pistol
2.75/72
32.75” eog
525

Kevin Na in CSX
Kevin Na swaps into CSX, leaving behind a ball he played for 18 years. This is big validation FYI.
One of the toughest switchers on TOUR, Kevin Na, approached our Tour team late last summer inquiring about the buzz around the CSX. His process is extensive, starting at home in his simulator to ensure that the ball will work at a baseline, then it has to pass the short game test, which is the most critical for Kevin. Once it’s reached that point, it needs to perform on course in multiple weather conditions.
In the end, he picked up more spin around the greens, CSX was far superior in the wind, and the extra MPH in ball speed off the driver doesn’t hurt.
I’ve wanted this one for a while:)
See what he had to say to Amanda Balionis on our #gorogue special on launch day:
New year, new golf ball! For the first time in his 19 year professional career, @kevinna915 is playing a new golf ball. Here’s why Na made the switch to a Chrome Soft X. 🤙@GolfatKapalua | @Troon pic.twitter.com/YYLr5iG4kv

Did Burns switch over? I just see the head covers for his bag, but no setup. Also, did Xander switch his driver shaft?

I have no idea how to respond to this…. Do we have a contracted Tour Staff? Yes. Does every company have a contracted tour staff? Yes.
So what else would you like to know? Do you object to my enthusiasm or our staffs around a new product? So you’re saying that our players only play Callaway because they are contracted staff? So what about the rest of the Pro ranks?
Based on your logic anyone playing anything is because they are getting paid? I have about 500 Tour Pros that would disagree with that premise.
What Truth do you seek? Happy to engage on a real question.

Johnny, your work is outstanding. The detail gearheads look up to you greatly. I appreciate your combination of enthusiasm, fun, and real data.
My question is, how much different are the updated balls. I have a couple dozen CS from last year, will there be a big difference from the new CS?

interesting to see the change from last year, where a majority played epic speed, to Rogue ST in the first tournament of the 2022. cant wait to try it. . .
question would be though how often do PROs change when new equipment is available?
