I’ll start this by saying that Torrey Pines has been the star of the show thus far. The course is rounding into the EXACT form I love for a National Championship. The greens are fast, the rough is high (in spots), and s it dries it will definitely identify the best player this week. Like past opens like Chambers Bay which required an insane amount of luck, Torrey will keep the ball in the player’s hands and those that play precision chess and not checkers will succeed.
More than most weeks I was out actually following players this week and what I saw from Rahm, Xander, Lefty, and Burns was quite scary. All four of them stripe’d it all over the golf course and Rahm specifically looks like a man possessed to win by 20. I saw him drive the 3rd green from the 16th tee………think about that for a second. On a dare.
It’s been a great week of practice but let’s get to the Main Event!!
