We are one week away from Augusta and most of the heavy lifting in regards to testing and getting the bag dialed in has been done weeks ago. Let’s be honest, if you are heading to Augusta National and you are still searching, good luck. Nonetheless, JD and the crew did have some interesting nuggets for us. I won’t be back on TOUR until Wells Fargo but I got eyes and ears everywhere:)
Tom Lewis also made a shaft switch this week going from his Ventus Red 6X into the Ventus Black 6X. Tom wanted to lower launch a bit and going from the higher launching Red into the low launch black isn’t a huge adjustment feel wise, they both have a very firm handle which Tom prefers. TL is in the Epic Speed retail head (9 @ 45.5 inches)
JJ Killeen put a few new pieces in the bag this week. To start he got a set of Raw TCB irons (4-5) with Nippon Pro Modus3 130X shafts. JJ also put a new driver in this week going with an Epic Speed Retail (8.5) with a Fujikura Ventus Black 6TX. If you haven’t listened to JJ and John Petersons #FORETHEPEOPLE podcast, go do it. Akshay Bhatia put the Chrome Soft X ’20 in play at Valero. He was previously in the CSX-LS and was looking for more spin at the top of the bag IE Driver to 6 iron. In addition, Akshay put a brand new set of Apex TCB’s (4-9) in the bag with KBS $Taper 130X shafts.
Henrik Stenson has a brand new (but still super old) set of Legacy Black Irons Built (3-PW), what changed, in this case, was his Nippon Pro Modus3 120X shafts are now “hard stepped” to lower the ball flight. As you’ll see below, Stenson had a big equipment week😉
